Lance-Corporal Ronnie Lord

Ronnie Lord was a member of No.23 (Mortar) Platoon, 1st Battalion The Border Regiment. He crossed the Rhine when the 1st Airborne Division withdrew on the night of the 25/26th September 1944 and is featured on this famous photograph. He remained in the Army after the war and was killed by a sniper in Malaya during the 1950's. He is buried in Kuala Lumpur.
