Men of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) take advantage of a brief lull to clean their weapons and make a brew. Around their position can be seen parapacks dropped on resupply flights. In the background is the tennis courts where German prisoners were kept, near to the centre of the Oosterbeek Perimeter. The men are, from left to right, AQMS Ron Turner (looking down a barrel of a Bren Gun), Lt. A. M. Brodie, ASM "Matty" Reed, and cooking their last meal (a tin of "Date Pudding"), Craftsman Joe Roberts (author of With Spanners Descending). This area as it appears today can be seen here.
